Poland Znin Px38 narrow gauge steam Tanago Railfan tours

Poland:
Narrow-gauge steam in Poland

18 - 25 october 2024

Not much is left of the variety and romance of Polish narrow-gauge railways, so in 2024 you have to look hard to find a narrow-gauge line with authentic rolling stock in Poland. The Köslin narrow-gauge railway, Znin and Sroda are worthwhile destinations for our plan to turn back time and experience and enjoy Polish narrow-gauge steam in its most beautiful form.

We plan to spend 4 full days on the narrow-gauge railway and systematically work through the best photo spots without any time pressure. There are many motifs to visit at different times of the day. On 22 and 24 October 2024, we will be organising night shots with our professional lighting equipment in Znin and Sroda respectively, each with a steam loco under steam.

If you don't feel like driving yourself, you can come to Berlin (main station or airport) and drive with us in a Mercedes Sprinter or VW 9-seater first to Köslin and then on to Znin and Sroda. On 26 October you will be back at your starting point in Berlin in the afternoon. Please book the transfer separately in the booking form.

You can book individual days or the entire tour with Tanago. However, we only offer the hotel contingent to customers who also book the transfer.

Our tour programme

We start on Friday, 18 October 2024 in Berlin, where we leave with our tour buses (Mercedes Sprinter 9 seater) around noon to Köslin, where we will spend the night. On 19 and 20 October we will drive 2 different trains on the Kössliner Kreisbahn with the Px 48 - 3901.

On 21 October we will continue to Znin, where we will operate different trains with the Lowa steam loco, we bring from Biaosliwie on 22 and 23 October. We have planned night shots for 22 October.

On 24 October, we start with the transfer to Sroda, where we first check into the hotel on arrival and then continue with night shots at the engine shed in the blue hour. 25 October, the Px48 - 1920 will first cover a morning train and then an afternoon train for us.

The next day we will return to Berlin where we will arrive at the airport at around 1.00 pm and at the main railway station at around 1.45 pm.

The tour planning is designed to maximise photo and video yield and is therefore designed for dedicated photographers and videographers. We start early in the morning. We will consciously and intensively take photos at the edge of the day and take a longer break at lunchtime. We will be travelling on the train every day.

On the transfer routes, we will "decorate" our train with orange high-visibility waistcoats; we don't attach any importance to "freeloaders" who follow the train for "free".
