For our photo charters on the Waldviertelbahn in 2021, we had the wheels of Mh.4 painted red and the locomotive converted so that it can now run with the appropriate signs in Era III on photo trips. For our 2022 project, we will have the locomotive further adapted to the era, so that we can run one day with an authentic set and locomotive Mh.1 as the pulling locomotive and Mh.4 as the lead locomotive on the northern branch of the Waldviertelbahn. On the second day, Mh.4 will be used alone on the southern branch in front of other sets (in the morning Mh.4 + 3 passenger coaches + tin service wagons, in the afternoon Mh.4 + 3 passenger coaches + tin service wagons + 2 brown goods wagons).

Programme description: Full steam ahead in the Waldviertel
Also this year we will let it steam on the network of the Lower Austrian Waldviertelbahn. On Thursday, 30.06.2022, the Mh.4, which will be specially labelled for us as 399.04 with white numbers, will pull a passenger train to Alt Nagelberg. There, as in the old days, 2 brown goods wagons are added, after which we make several double runs with the 399.04 and 2091.09.
During our lunch break, the 399.04 is turned around, so that after the journey from Alt Nagelberg to Litschau, we can start the return journey to Gmünd chimney ahead. Numerous photo stops and mock runs.
Friday, 01.07.2022 is all about "full steam". In the morning the Mh.4 (labelled as 399.04 with white numbers) and the Mh.1 pull a long GmP with 8 cars from Gmünd to Weitra. In the hairpin bends before Weitra, numerous dummy approaches take place. From Weitra, the 399.04 pulls a 6 car train (1 service car, 3 passenger cars, 2 freight cars) over the Waldviertler Semmering to Groß Gerungs. After a short break we return to Steinbach, where Mh.1 (in the meantime the locomotive has turned at the track triangle in Gmünd) picks us up chimney first. While the 399.04 returns to Gmünd alone, we take advantage of the evening light to show the Mh.1 a few more times.
